Why this gets annoying
The handwriting is part of the recipe. So is the grease mark over the teaspoon.
Old cards were written for someone who already knew the oven temperature and what 'the usual pan' meant. Scanning saves the words. Your review supplies the family context a model cannot know.

Use even light
Place the card on a plain surface and photograph it straight on without a hand or phone shadow across the writing.

Include both sides
Photograph the back even if it only contains the final two lines or a substitution added years later.

Compare every number
Fractions, faded ink, and cursive abbreviations deserve a line-by-line check before the recipe replaces your working copy.

Handwriting recognition is a first draft.
Faded cursive, crossed-out measurements, unusual abbreviations, and family shorthand can all be misread. Keep the original card and verify the digital copy before cooking.

It can often read clear cursive, but old or highly personal handwriting needs careful review.
Can I add what the card leaves out?
Yes. Edit the ingredients and steps or add your own note after importing.
Does photographing the card publish it?
No. The imported recipe belongs in your private library unless you choose to share it.
